Competitor and Self Price Beat Rule Fields (Optional)
-
competitor_discount_variant
: (percent
|amount
)This field specifies how you intend to beat your competitors' best price. The discount can be applied as either a percentage or an absolute amount. For instance, you might choose to offer a price that's 5% lower than the best competitor price or undercut it by a fixed amount, such as $20.
By providing these options, the system offers flexibility in how discounts are applied, allowing for strategic pricing adjustments that can be tailored to beat competitors' prices effectively, whether through percentage reductions or specific monetary amounts.
-
competitor_discount_val
:When the variant is 'amount': The discount value will be expressed in the smallest unit of the specified currency, ensuring precision in financial calculations. If any value entered is less than 0, it will be automatically adjusted to 0. Here are examples for clarity:
- In USD (U.S. Dollars), a discount of $1.50 will be recorded as 150 cents.
- In GBP (British Pounds), a discount of £1.50 will be noted as 150 pence.
- In EUR (Euros), a discount of €1.50 will be documented as 150 cents.
This method guarantees that all discount amounts are stored in the smallest currency unit, promoting consistency across financial records. Any negative discount amounts entered are automatically corrected to 0.
When the variant is 'percent': The discount will be represented as a percentage value, with a permissible range from 0 to 100. Any percentage value entered that exceeds 100 will be reduced to 100, and any value below 0 will be increased to 0. This ensures that percentage discounts remain within a logical and practical framework, facilitating straightforward application and understanding.
-
competitor_discount_rounding
:The incremental value of the competitor discount.
For example if the discounts should be in $1, $5, or $10 increments etc.
If the value is set to 5, and the required discount is 4, then it will get rounded up to 5, or if the required discount is 6, it will get rounded down to 5.
To provide the exact discount amount, the value will need to be set to 1.
-
self_discount_variant
: (percent
|amount
)The discount you offer if you are already offering the best price. This can be provided as either a percentage or absolute amount, for example you might offer an additional 2% or $10 discount to further guarantee the sale.
-
self_discount_val
:If variant is amount, this will be a dollar (or relevant currency) value. Values below 0 will be set to 0.
If variant is percent, this will be a percentage value and limited to 0 - 100. Values above 100 will be set to 100 and values below 0 will be set to 0.
-
self_discount_rounding
:The incremental value of the self discount.
Handling of variants
Each variant is expected to have it's own SKU.
